Area Information

Regina is in Southern Saskatchewan and is the second largest city in the province. It is also the capital and cultural center in this prairie area which has extreme weather, a whole lot of trees, and a lot of wide open spaces. It has many parks and golf courses and a friendly population of near 200,000.

It has many festivals throughout the year, a fine university, and recreation of fishing, hunting, swimming, and boating, and of course all things involving ice. Wascana lake is often snowplowed for ice skaters. Dams have been built and the water is used domestically. There are five golf courses, four fishing lakes, and other lakes nearby.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional football team and play right here in Regina. It is very close to American football, the NFL, but instead of four downs for the offense to move the ball, Canadian teams have only three downs to move the ball. This makes for some very exciting football. Some famous football players have come from the Canadian league and went to the NFL including quarterback Doug Flutie.
